Back to Questions My toilet keeps running, what could be wrong?
This symptom indicates that water is leaking from the flapper, tank ball or similar device (located in the center of the tank) causing the tank fill valve (commonly called a ball cock) to continue to fill the tank.

One way to check for this is to put some food coloring in the tank and check to see if the color shows up in the bowl. The usual remedy is to replace the flapper, tank ball or seal that keeps the water in the tank.
